KNIGHTS OF THE FROZEN THRONE™ BRINGS COLD TASTE OF UNDEATH TO HEARTHSTONE®

Collect 135 frosty new cards in newest expansion for Blizzard Entertainment’s internationally acclaimed digital card game. Legendary Hero Cards transform Hearthstone’s fallen heroes into powerful Death Knights with game-changing new abilities. Overthrow the Lich King and claim the Frozen Throne in a series of free missions.

IRVINE, Calif. — August 10, 2017 — As the cold shroud of death falls upon the land of the living, Azeroth’s mortal inhabitants shiver with fear—Knights of the Frozen Throne™, the new expansion for Blizzard Entertainment’s smash-hit digital card game Hearthstone®, has arrived. The Lich King—Lord of the Scourge, master of Icecrown Citadel, and wielder of the cursed runeblade Frostmourne—has come to conquer the tavern and those within it, promising power in the form of 135 frosty new cards.

Knights of the Frozen Throne takes players to Northrend, where they’ll meet an untimely demise, only to be raised by the Lich King and granted terrifying new powers from beyond the grave. Adventurers can harness this unholy might by collecting nine new legendary Hero Cards that, when played, transform the heroes of Hearthstone into fearsome Death Knights.

Those with the will to rise against the Lich King can embark on a series of challenging missions that Knights of the Frozen Throne offers to everyone—for free. Players who enter the icy halls of Icecrown Citadel and complete the prologue shall receive a random Legendary Death Knight Hero Card before battling through two wings guarded by iconic bosses like the pestilent Professor Putricide and Blood Queen Lana’thel . . . until only the Lich King stands between them and the Frozen Throne.

“The Lich King is one of our most iconic villains, and we’re excited to finally bring him—and his nine new Death Knights—to Hearthstone,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “Whether they’re ascending the Frozen Throne or dueling with friends at Fireside Gatherings, we can’t wait to see how players wield these deadly new cards.”

Knights of the Frozen Throne is available now for Windows® and Mac® PCs; Windows, iOS, and Android™ tablets; and iOS and Android phones. Card packs can be purchased individually or in discounted bundles from the in-game Shop for gold or real-world currency at the same price as all other Hearthstone card packs. Players now have the chance to win Knights of the Frozen Throne card packs as quest rewards or prizes in the Arena, and can also craft cards from the expansion by using Arcane Dust collected from disenchanting unwanted cards. Players who log in by November 1 will receive three free Knights of the Frozen Throne card packs* to aid them as reinforcements arrive to storm Icecrown Citadel.

Santa Monica, CA – Nov. 10, 2016 – Today, Red Bull Media House announced the second event of this season’s Team Brawl: Hearthstone—a unique invite-only competition featuring Blizzard’s ever-popular digital collectible card game. Fans can tune in and watch professional teams build their card decks, make crucial decisions, and compete to find out who will go home with the grand prize and title of Team Brawl Champion. Team Brawl: Hearthstone takes place November 18-19 and airs on Red Bull eSports Twitch.tv channel on November 19.

The two-day competition puts a twist on the typical 1v1 of Hearthstone’s game mechanics—teams are set up 3v3 and mic’d up to assist their teammates. Each team is assigned one 240-card pool with which to construct three 30-card decks (meaning one deck per team member). This time, Team Brawl: Hearthstone will feature a Team Conquest Round Robin Format:

  • Teams blind pick one of their 3 decks for combat against the opposing team
  • Once a deck wins a game, it cannot be used again
  • First team to win with each of their three decks wins the match

Fans can cheer on their favorite professional Hearthstone teams, including returning champions Tempo Storm, Team Liquid, Team Kibler, and Cloud9.

The Parlor: Normal Chess

The Normal Chess event replaces your hero class with the White King, thus you aren’t able to choose a deck. Instead, you are given random cards based on the chess pieces for this particular encounter. This is a very unique encounter in the Hearthstone: One Night in Karazhan adventure.

The Black King’s Hero power is Cheat: Destroy the left-most enemy minion. Try to have White Pawns to the left-most to avoid getting important cards killed right off.

At the end of your turn, all your cards deal damage to the enemy cards in the opposite side. Depending how you position your cards, a card can attack two enemy cards.

These are the cards you get (to the left), and the cards the Black King plays (to the right):

White RookBlack Rook
White BishopBlack Bishop

The Reward for winning the Normal Chess are the Ivory Knight and Protect the King!.

Normal Magic Mirror | Hearthstone: One Night in Karazhan

Magic Mirror is the second boss in the Parlor wing. His hero power allows him to duplicate minions you summon and those he summons. If you play as a Mage, in addition to Deathrattle minions, you should add Flamewaker, Knife Juggler, Chrommagus and Sorcerer Apprentice are good choices to get duplicated by his hero power.

Paladin decks can easily take this boss, especially with Chrommagus and a bunch of deathrattle minions in the mix.

Location: The Parlor
Passive Hero Power: Whenever a minion is played, summon a 1/1 copy of it.

Normal Silverware Golem | Hearthstone: One Night in Karazhan

Silverware Golem is the first boss in the Parlor in the One Night in Karazhan adventure. The key to beating him is to deal immediately with Cup and Knife (5/1). Destroying Knife removes the Taunt from its minions. The ideal class to fight him is Mage.

Due to most of its minions being 1 health, you can use spells that clear the board: Arcane Explosion, Arcane Missiles, Cone of Cold.

Very helpful to add Flamewaker and Doomsayer to your deck.

Location: The Parlor (Second Wing)
Hero Power: Be Our Guest – Summon a 1/1 Plate

Blizzplanet Coverage – Hearthstone: One Night in Karazhan Launch Party

Blizzplanet correspondent Dperschonok accepted the invitation to Blizzard Entertainment’s spectacular Hearthstone: One Night in Karazhan Launch Party this past August 5th. He was welcomed by Moroes who kindly gave him a tour through the Banquet Hall to enjoy the best delicacies and exotic drinks of the kingdom.

Slowly crawling in fear of what he might find in the grim halls of Karazhan, Danny found other fellow adventurers in his quest to explore the tower: @AffinityUS and @Phaerixia. To his delight, as he climbed the tower to reach the Opera Hall, there was a theatrical program with actors playing Romulos and Julianne. With such a smile drawn on his face, I doubt Danny will ever forget the amazing experience put together by the awesome Hearthstone community team.

In the Grand Ballroom, a talented night elf dancer taught the invitees some exotic moves to roll at the beat of the Disco music, and an ogre stole the show with its belly dance. Check out our brief video clips of the event; and the livestream VOD.

Hearthstone: One Night in Karazhan is available on August 11, 2016. Pull a chair, and enjoy the adventure.
