Hearthstone: One Night in Karazhan Adventure Announced

Blizzard Entertainment game director Ben Brode announced at ChinaJoy the newest Hearthstone: One Night in Karazhan Adventure. This new adventure pack will introduce 45 new cards, 13 bosses, 4 wings (The Parlor, the Opera Hall, the Menagerie, and the Spire), and a prologue mission.

Hearthstone: One Night in Karazhan will be launched on August 11, 2016. You will be able to pre-purchase soon. Each week, a new wing will be open to players.

If you buy the entire Adventure ($19.99) during the first week of launch, you will get the following card back.

Hearthstone: One Night in Karazhan

Karazhan, long a potent nexus of arcane energies, is about to become the focal point of a very different kind of cosmic force. The wizard Medivh has used every bit of magic at his disposal to set up the most lavish and extravagant party of all time, and your name is on the guest list alongside the crème de la crème of Azeroth and beyond! With such an eclectic mix of attendees, it’s guaranteed that this party will be out of this world.

But as you groove to the music and let the sights dazzle you, beware; one night in Karazhan, and even tough guys tumble. Keep your decks straight, your wits sharp, and above all, stay alive!

  • New Cards: Make your way through four wings chock-full of challenging bosses, unexpected twists, and mystical mayhem. Beat the bosses and earn their brand-new cards for your collection!

  • Legendary: Get ready for truly dazzling legendary cards such as Moroes and many more!

  • Class Challenges: As the evening progresses, you will unlock nine all-new class challenges that test your skills in surprising new ways. Succeed, and unlock their rewards!

  • New Game Board: When an archmage throws a party, nothing but the best will do. Prepare to be spellbound by the magic of Karazhan!

  • Never a dull moment: Your host may be a Guardian of Tirisfal, a vastly powerful magic user, and a fantastic dancer, but nobody’s perfect. Some matters may transpire over the course of the evening that might require your… special attention. Come prepared!

  • Portals Everywhere: This party is so intense, it’s warping the very fabric of space and time to bring in more guests! Use the new portal spell cards to unleash the magic and summon random minions to the field.

One Night in Karazhan, the next Hearthstone Adventure, is a groovy collection of single-player missions that invites players to party in Karazhan, the mage Medivh’s magnificent tower. Lavish feasts, Opera performances, and more await all guests at what promises to be the greatest party in Azeroth! However, when players arrive to the party, they’ll discover that Medivh has gone missing, and in his absence, magic has begun running amok!

Players will need to bust out bold new decks and strategies to master Medivh’s magical minions, fight stage fright in the Opera, and checkmate his enchanted chess set. Those who succeed will be rewarded with all-new cards to add to their collections!

Get Ready to Get Down

One Night in Karazhan will launch starting on August 11, with new wings opening weekly over the course of a month. Players will be able to explore Karazhan in its former glory, encounter familiar characters such as Moroes and The Curator, battle challenging bosses, and of course, add more cards to their collections.

Party favors in the form of 45 new cards are up for grabs, attainable by traversing each of the four wings and defeating all class challenges. Just like other cards in players’ collections, golden versions of these cards can be crafted if players want them to shine a little brighter.

Class Challenges

Class challenges will test players’ skills with each class in duels using specific premade decks. Partygoers who emerge victorious in each class challenge will be rewarded with a glimmering new One Night in Karazhan-themed class card (one of the 45 new cards available in this Adventure).

Heroic Mode

Once all of the bosses in a wing have been defeated, players can take on a far-more-challenging version of each wing in Heroic Mode. These fights are immensely difficult, so a little improvisation might be required to emerge victorious. Defeating Heroic Mode will grant the player a One Night in Karazhan card back, perfect for showing off such an accomplishment!

The Arena

After each wing is released, the cards available in it will be added to the Arena mix for everyone to play with, regardless of whether they’ve played through the Adventure.

Start the Party for Free

All players are invited to play the free prologue mission, where they’ll wield powerful new spells as Medivh himself. In this exciting intro mission, players will discover why Medivh has gone missing, earn two new cards, and get a taste of what’s in store with One Night in Karazhan. Once the Adventure has been released, simply access One Night in Karazhan from the Solo Adventures menu to find the free prologue mission.

Getting Down to Business

Players ready to hit the dance floor in this Adventure will be able to purchase access to the entire Adventure for $19.99 USD from the in-game shop. Those who purchase the entire adventure within the first week after release will receive a special Karazhan-themed card back. Single wings will be available for 700 gold or $6.99 USD each, and discount-bundles will be available as well based on the number of individual wings the player has already purchased.

Purchase entire Adventure within first week of release and receive special Karazhan-themed card back. Play free prologue mission, going live at launch, and earn two of Adventure’s groovy new cards

SHANGHAI, CHINA.— July 29, 2016—Equip your dancing shoes and make sure you’re properly attuned, because you’re invited to the hottest party in the Eastern Kingdoms! Blizzard Entertainment today revealed One Night in Karazhan™—a brand-new Hearthstone® Adventure that takes players inside Medivh’s tower, Karazhan, for a truly enchanted experience. As Azeroth’s most powerful mage, Medivh’s magical prowess is surpassed only by his love for extravagant shindigs, and he has spared no expense to entertain his cherished guests—lavish feasts, impeccable Opera performances, and more await you inside.

“One Night in Karazhan will give players the chance to party with Medivh while earning some great new cards for their collections,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment “We’re excited to reimagine one of Azeroth’s most beloved locations in Hearthstone, and we can’t wait to see players put their new decks to the test.”

Karazhan Gameboard

Once you arrive at the party, you’ll find that Medivh has gone missing—and his collection of arcane objects is running amok throughout the castle. It’s up to you and Moroes, Medivh’s trusted butler, to keep the party under control and find your host, while still finding time to enjoy the amenities! With a lineup of iconic characters to encounter, everyone’s favorite enchanted chess board, and 45 groovy new cards to add to your collection, One Night in Karazhan promises to be an Adventure to remember.

The party starts August 11 on Windows® and Mac® PCs; Windows, iOS, and Android™ tablets; and iOS and Android mobile phones, and the four wings of One Night in Karazhan will open on a weekly basis (one per week). One Night in Karazhan will be available in the in-game shop in full for $19.99 USD, one wing at a time for 700 gold or $6.99 USD each, or in discounted bundles based on the number of individual wings already purchased. Upon release, all Hearthstone players will be able to play a prologue mission free and earn two of the Adventure’s new cards. In addition, players who purchase the full Adventure during the first week of its release will receive a special Karazhan-themed card back.

The Parlor

You arrive an hour earlier to the party to find that Medivh is missing. His magical preparations for the party have unraveled, causing the inanimate objects (silverware, plates, mirrors) to come to life to wreck havoc. The magic mirror that Medivh set up to compliment guests has suddenly started to insult them instead. The first wing of Karazhan is the Parlor, where Moroes will greet you and ask for your help.

In the Parlor wing, one of the designers helped to develop the Chest Event. The chest pieces attack automatically at the end of the turn, and attack the enemy minions directly across in front of them. Below is the card back earned for completing the first wing.

Here is a gameplay video against the Silverware Golem. Cards shown in action: Barnes, Firelands Portal and The Curator:

The Opera Hall

Players will fight against Barnes the Stage Manager in the Opera Hall. You will help Barnes put on three great plays for the audience.

Act 1: The great love story of Julianne and Romulo.
Act 2: The mysterious Big Bad Wolf.
Act 3: The Crone — with the help of Dorothy.

With the Crone encounter, it is recommended to play cards on the right side of Dorothy to apply a taunt buff. The Crone’s hero power is to summon a tornado that deals 100 damage. If there is no taunt minion to halt the tornado, it will deal 100 damage to your hero.

When you defeat the Opera Hall wing, you will earn the following Hunter card: Kindly Grandmother. After triggering its deathrattle, it summons a 3/2 Big Bad Wolf.

The Menagerie

Creatures from all over the world are gathered up and penned right here, and attended to by the massive mechanical Curator. With Medivh’s absence, the Curator’s programming has gone haywire and instead of keeping the creatures caged, it’s letting them loose. You must reprogram the Curator, and he will help you wrangle the escaped creatures.

After defeating the Menagerie wing, players will earn the following card: The Curator which works well with a Zoo deck.

The Spire

You will battle Netherspite in the Spire wing, and the gameplay mechanics experienced in World of Warcraft are more or less mirrored in this Hearthstone adventure. You will also fight the Shade of Aran, and Prince Melchezaar — in your quest to find Medivh.

These are the card rewards earned after defeating The Spire: The Ethereal Peddler is a good card for a Rogue deck with Burgle.

The Interface

Usually, the Adventure interface lets you scroll down as you progress through each wing. However, with One Night in Karazhan adventure, the developers felt it would be more appropriate to give you the feeling of ascending the tower of Karazhan, instead.

Prologue Mission

The Hearthstone Team will make available a Free prologue mission where you play as the Archmage Medivh to find out what happened to him before the party. You will earn two Free cards by completing the Prologue Mission.
